Lamrim Retreat, Refuge and Bodhisattva Ceremony

Announcements

Dear members of Gaden Samten Ling,

Spiritual Director Kushok Lobsang Dhamchöe invites you to join him for a 5-day Online Lam Rim Retreat beginning June 2, 2021. The last day of the retreat Kushok will be offering Refuge and Bodhisattva Vows online via Zoom (links will be mailed before the retreat days and ceremony). These events are open to members only and by donation.

Kushok has offered extensive commentary on both the Lam Rim Chen Mo by Lama Tsongkapa and Liberation in the Palm of Your Hand, A concise Discourse on the Path to Enlightenment by Pabongka Rimpoche. This short part-time retreat is your opportunity to review the Lam Rim teachings to date, to contemplate their meaning and to meditate in order to fully absorb the wisdom and to work towards realization. This is the traditional way of studying the dharma.

As householders, the opportunity to spend time contemplating and meditating on the teachings is very rare. Please don’t miss this precious opportunity to deepen your understanding of the path to enlightenment.

Owing to your study, you understand the Dharma;

Owing to your study, you stop sinning;

Owing to your study, you abandon the meaningless;

Owing to your study, you achieve Nirvana

-Buddha

Refuge and Bodhisattva Vows Ceremony

Sunday, June 6, 11 am – 1 pm

If you have taken Refuge with Kushok, or another Buddhist master in the past, and would like to renew your vows, Kushok welcomes you to do so. If you have not taken Refuge before, and would like to do so with Kushok, we ask that you please let us know by June 4, 2021, by emailing [email protected] This allows time for Kushok to prepare your Refuge name and text before the ceremony. If you would like to participate as an observer, you are also very welcome to do so. Please note that there is no obligation to participate.

Taking the Refuge and Bodhisattva vows is a very precious opportunity. Please give careful consideration to the commitments required and ensure you understand the deep meaning of these powerful vows to ensure you receive the maximum benefit.
