Kushok Lobsang Dhamchoe, Spiritual Director of Gaden Samten Ling Tibetan Buddhist Meditation Society. Please visit https://www.gsl-ab.ca/spiritual-director/ to learn more about our Spiritual Director.
Mantra visualization and recitation is an extensive Tibetan Buddhist practice that has immeasurable benefits. In this course, Kushok Lobsang Dhamchoe will provide in-depth teachings on the mantra of Chenrezig, the Buddha of Compassion. Kushok will guide students how to use this mantra as the object of their meditation, to both promote mind stabilization and to develop one’s own potential for true compassion. Other benefits to this practice include the purification of karma and obstacles, and the generation of merit; both essential to progress on the path to full realization. Meditation on the Buddha of Compassion’s mantra can also help students to connect and communicate with this deity. Through developing an intimate relationship with this Buddha one can begin the work of infusing their own mind-stream with the stainless qualities of Chenrezig.
Whether one is new to meditation, seeking new ways to stabilize the mind, or wanting to deepen their connection to the Buddha of Compassion, this course can provide essential instruction that students can take away and use in their own practice.
There are no course prerequisites. This course, however, is designed to complement both the Getting to Know Chenrezig, the Buddha of Compassion and The Buddha of Compassion (Chenrezig) One-Day Retreat. Students interested in deepening their knowledge and practice of Chenrezig may be interested in registering for all three, however, depending on individual interests and time, each is a complete course/retreat on its own.
Anyone interested in learning mantra meditation, seeking new ways to stabilize the mind, or wanting to deepen their connection to the Buddha of Compassion are welcome to attend.
Currently the course will only be offered virtually until such time as we are able to safely open the Centre for regular classes. It is our intention to continue offering zoom classes as an option even after the Centre reopens.
