We are pleased to invite you to join us for Training the Mind and Opening the Heart, a new 4-week series that introduces the timeless teachings found in The 37 Practices of a Bodhisattva.
Spiritual Director Kushok Lobsang Dhamchöe will guide participants through these important verses and their meaning within the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. Each verse offers a direct instruction on how to work with the mind, cultivate patience and generosity, and deepen our understanding of wisdom and compassion.
Through teachings, meditation, and reflection, we will explore how these practices can be applied in everyday life. The teachings help us recognize habits of attachment and aversion while encouraging the development of a more open and compassionate way of relating to ourselves and others.
A central theme of these teachings is learning how to transform the challenges we encounter in life into opportunities for spiritual growth. In this way, the path becomes something we practice not only in meditation, but in our daily interactions with others. Exploring the verses helps us to appreciate the unique value of our lives and begins shifting our focus toward a more courageous and universal sense of care for others, following the compassionate example of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
This course is open to anyone who wishes to deepen their understanding of the Buddhist path and cultivate a more compassionate and stable mind. No previous experience is required.
“If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassion.”
— His Holiness the Dalai Lama
