Private: Karma Yoga Day in preparation for Winter

Join us as we prepare the centre for the coming winter. After a busy summer season there is much to do and many hands make for light and joyful work. On this day we will spend time putting away flower pots, raking leaves, cutting the lawn, watering the trees in for the winter, tidying the yard, flushing out exterior drain lines, organizing our outer deck storage area, and clearing up the parking area ready for winter snow clearing. For those who prefer to work indoors, we will help clean the shrine room and common areas on the main and lower levels of the centre. After a busy Tibetan Bazaar season our kitchen is in special need of some TLC. We greatly appreciate all the help you can offer.

Everyone who benefits from the programs at the Alberta Centre for Peace and Meditation. All are welcome!

We will be doing our fall Karma Yoga on Saturday, October 13. We start at 12:30 pm sharp and aim to finish by approximately 4:30 pm.

Please sign up using this link so we have an idea of how many will be attending. Specific tasks will be assigned upon arrival.

All cleaning supplies will be provided. We are happy to offer complimentary chai tea and snacks to all volunteers in gratitude for their kind service.

Cleaning and caring for the dharma centre is dharma practice. By cleaning the centre we are creating a pure environment to host the Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, and other guests who will join us for all of our upcoming activities. The Lam Rim teachings say that the best offering to our teacher is our own practice. Serving is the highest form of dharma practice as it pleases our teacher’s mind to see us giving our time freely in service of others and cultivating the bodhisattva attitude. Many teachings say that serving our fellow practitioners (students studying under the same teacher) is the same merit as if we were to make offerings to every pore of our teacher. How powerful!

Please consider joining us for this important day of community, cleaning and lots of laughs! There is no better way to get connected at Gaden Samten Ling than by coming out to lend a hand and finding joy from working together to help Kushok and the Society. See you there!
